The Citizens for Daniel J Butler Campaign believe that every Illinoisan deserves equal access to the democratic process. We are committed to ensuring our website is accessible to all individuals, including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor disabilities.

Standards and Conformance

To ensure a high-quality experience for all, we strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines, which are also the standard for the Illinois Information Technology Accessibility Act (IITAA), provide clear benchmarks to ensure digital content is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.

Our accessibility efforts include:

• Keyboard Navigation: Ensuring all site features, including donation and volunteer forms, can be navigated without a mouse.

• Text Alternatives: Providing descriptive "alt text" for images so voters using screen readers can understand our platform and graphics.

• Color Contrast: Maintaining high contrast ratios (at least 4.5:1) to ensure text is readable for users with low vision.

• Responsive Design: Optimizing our site for various screen sizes, including mobile devices and tablets.

Known Limitations

While we work diligently toward full compliance, we recognize some areas may have limitations:

• Third-Party Tools: Some external widgets, such as certain donation processing platforms or legacy video players, may not yet fully meet Level AA standards. We are actively working with these vendors to ensure they prioritize accessibility.

• Archived Documents: Older PDF reports or past press releases may not be fully optimized for screen readers. We are happy to provide these in alternative formats upon request.
