During my first two years on the Will County Board, I served on nine committees and chaired the Ad-Hoc Access Will County Committee. In that role, I authored and advanced a resolution to improve transportation access for seniors and individuals with developmental disabilities. You can read that resolution by clicking here.

In my third and fourth years, under a Democratic Speaker, I have served on six committees and currently chair the Public Health & Safety Committee. In that capacity, I helped secure an intergovernmental agreement between the Village of Frankfort and Will County to allow animals to be taken to the County for care. I am now working with the communities of Crete and Monee on similar agreements.

In February 2023, I represented Will County in Washington, D.C., advancing our “Good Food for All” resolution. Working through the National Association of Counties (NACo), I successfully helped secure NACo’s support to lobby Congress for increased federal funding to help young, beginning, and underserved farmers start local farms and grow food within their communities.

Most recently, I led the effort to keep our county tax levy flat and prevent an increase in county property taxes. This may be the first time in many years that county property taxes did not rise.

On the Board floor, I successfully opposed a resolution that would have restricted ICE agents from carrying out their duties and entering government buildings. In its place, I proposed a “Clear Path to Citizenship” resolution, focused on improving our immigration system by creating a transparent, lawful path to citizenship for those who enter our country legally.

I also voted no on raising County Board salaries when that proposal came before us.

When solar company regulations were being debated, I fought hard to maintain local responsibility and oversight on special use permits for solar facilities—pushing back when some, including our County Speaker, questioned how to remove that authority from the Board.

Finally, when progressive members lobbied for funding directed to narrow special-interest groups, I worked to ensure those funds were made available more broadly, so that all residents could benefit.
